Programme description
Philosophy is a study programme for you if you are interested in the world, enjoy a variety of thoughts and are fascinated by academic work. The programme aims at acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies related to broadly understood philosophical sciences. The interdisciplinary approach allows you to combine philosophical expertise with selected sciences related to philosophy (ethics, logic, aesthetics) and independent of philosophy (e.g. political science, natural sciences). What does the study programme offer? You will learn history of philosophy from antiquity to modern times, logic, ontology, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, social (political) philosophy. You will also acquire appropriate language skills as regards a modern language and a selected ancient language (Latin, Greek, Sanskrit). The advantage of studying at the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University is the broad and dynamically changing range of optional courses which can be chosen by students when going to the following years of study.
