Programme description
The 5-year long DD—Doctor of Dental Surgery program in English lasts 10 semesters and includes over 5000 class hours and 300 ECTS points. Within the course of studies students receive knowledge in the field of basic sciences as well as clinical disciplines that enables graduates to take up practice as dentists. Retaining the medical character of the programme whilst orienting it to the professional dental fields is of great importance. Teaching is conducted exclusively in English, using information technology with reference to both the circulation of medical documentation and logistics of the patients of the University Dental Clinic, as well as to managing the didactic procedures carried out by the Chair of Dentistry of the Faculty of Medicine of the JU MC.

Information regarding Faculty
School of Medicine in English at the Faculty of Medicine (Medical College) opened its doors to the first students in 1994. Its rapid development resulted in currently educating nearly 700 students coming from five different continents and twenty countries. Most of School’s students are Norwegian, American and Canadian nationals.
The School’s educational offer includes a medical and dental programs taught in English, where the latter was launched in 2010. Upon completion of those programs, students receive a diploma of the Jagiellonian University and are awarded internationally recognized titles of lekarz or lekarz dentysta (equivalents of MD and DDS) respectively.
The School’s faculty is composed of the most experienced JU lecturers and visiting professors from the USA, Canada and Germany. The standards of the English-language programs offered by the School are based not only on the Polish teaching requirements but also on specifications provided by the European Union and the USA (the US Department of Education Loan Program, Medical Board of California).

Student’s life
Time spent at the university is not all about education and class participation; it is also an excellent opportunity to develop hobbies and interests. Many research societies and student organizations work at the Jagiellonian University, including faculty- and university-wide ones. These societies allow students to spend their free time actively, gain knowledge, develop their talents, participate in engaging, unconventional projects, go on research and team-building trips, participate in conferences and meet fellow students outside the lecture halls.
Students interested in the international dimension of studying can participate in a wide variety of exchange programmes such as Erasmus+, CEEPUS, Utrecht Network, exchange programmes within Bilateral Agreements or European university Una Europa, or participate in a domestic mobility programme called MOSTUM.

Graduates
Graduate of DDS—Doctor of Dental Surgery program in English possesses basic knowledge in the field of medicine and advanced knowledge in the field of dentistry. S/he is capable of: providing professional dental care; planning, implementing and assessing preventive and therapeutic care as part of the promotion of health and pro-health education. S/he may undertake postgraduate studies. The graduate can work in health care institutions, didactic-research institutes and research-developmental institutes. Upon obtaining the appropriate qualifications is allowed to practice as a doctor of dentistry.
Thanks to the implementation of the assumed learning outcomes, graduates of medical and dental studies, in accordance with their knowledge and skills acquired during their studies, are prepared to work in: public and non-public health care institutions; education; research institutions and research and development centers; institutions dealing with counseling and dissemination of knowledge in the field of health-promoting education, which is the answer to the increase in demand for medical services caused by demographic and civilization trends.

Offer for school
The following events are conducted in Polish – to find out about the offer for English-speaking audience, please get in touch with the organizer directly. Additionally, due to the current pandemic, some faculty and university events may be canceled or conducted in a form other than that described below.
We invite all schools to a series of meetings, "University Closer to you – trips to the Jagiellonian University." The purpose of the sessions as part of the tours is to familiarize students with our university's history through a broad educational offer (lectures, workshops, laboratory classes, etc.). The current program of the event is available on the organizer's website - Centre for Communications and Marketing.
The Jagiellonian Library allows you to visit the old and new parts of the building. The tour program includes presentations of information about the history of the Library and the building itself and a tour of the Warehouse Department. The offer of Collegium Maius consists of the "Traces of science" and "Traces of history and art" lessons as well as interactive online classes. We also invite you to familiarize yourself with the educational offer of: the Botanic Garden, the Nature Education Center, the Confucius Institute, and the Museum of the Department of Anatomy UJ CM.
