Programme description
Cultural Studies—Texts of Culture allows students to understand and criticise the mechanisms of national and international modern culture. Open and flexible study programme reacts to the changes in modern culture. It develops the ability to analyse and understand various texts of culture (movies, photography, literature, theatre, dance, art, music, comics, games, digital and social media) related to artistic and daily life spheres.
Cultural Studies—Texts of Culture is a study programme that focuses on individuality and offers possibilities to realise passions and interests. Its innovative formula provides broad knowledge and skills in cultural studies, which students may supplement by choosing subjects according to their interests from thematic blocs. The study programme is also efficient by teaching management of cultural institutions, designing new media or creative writing.

Student’s life
Time spent at the university is not all about education and class participation; it is also an excellent opportunity to develop hobbies and interests. Many research societies and student organizations operate at the Jagiellonian University, including faculty- and university-wide ones. These societies allow students to spend their free time actively, gain knowledge, develop their talents, participate in engaging, unconventional projects, go on research and team-building trips, participate in conferences, and meet fellow students outside the lecture halls. There are many student associations at the Faculty of Polish Studies, f. e. Academic Circle of Texts of Culture.
Students interested in the international dimension of studying can participate in a wide variety of exchange programmes, such as Erasmus+, Utrecht Network, bilateral exchange programmes, European university Una Europa, or the domestic mobility programme called MOST.

Jan
Thanks to so-called 'blocs', students may choose lectures and create schedules according to their interests. Academic teachers are specialists in various fields related to culture. That's why you may look at the matters from multiple perspectives. Moreover, I really like that pop culture is treated here with respect. Series and comics are treated equally to literature, which is rare in academic discourse.
