Programme description

Political Science at the JU is the only Polish Political Science study programme recognised by the CHE European Excellence Ranging and awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science. The specificity of the Political Science study programme is related to a comprehensive study of political phenomena occurring on many levels (local, regional, and international). The study programme allows students to learn about the historical and ideological determinants of these phenomena. It also considers the latest trends in political science research, such as the development and functioning of political systems, the transformation of modern societies, and the use of the latest technologies in state management processes. An additional advantage is the possibility to choose the study profile accordingly to the students’ interests. There are two specializations: Political Communication and Consulting and Institutions and Politics Governance.

Student’s life

Time spent at the university is not all about education and class participation; it is also an excellent opportunity to develop hobbies and interests. Many research societies and student organizations operate at the Jagiellonian University, including faculty- and university-wide ones. These societies allow students to spend their free time actively, gain knowledge, develop their talents, participate in engaging, unconventional projects, go on research and team-building trips, participate in conferences, and meet fellow students outside the lecture halls. There are many student associations at the Faculty of International and Political Studies, f. e. Political Journalism Society and Society of Political Science.

Students interested in the international dimension of studying can participate in a wide variety of exchange programmes, such as Erasmus+, CEEPUS, Utrecht Network, bilateral exchange programmes, European university Una Europa, or the domestic mobility programme called MOST.

More than just studies

From our lecturers

Dr hab. Mirella Korzeniewska-Wiszniewska Dr hab. Mirella Korzeniewska-Wiszniewska
– How to take full advantage of your time during your studies?
– Take the benefit from everything the university offers; it is much more than just education. Find the balance between studying and private life (sometimes you may need to combine it with work). You may not feel it during your studies, but it is a unique turning point in life, which you will reminisce about with sentiment in the future. Especially if you do not have to work during your studies. Studies are the last time of carefree days and, let's say, mature youth.
