Perhaps you already know what Nursing is, but check the offer of Jagiellonian University. To keep the highest standard of education and professional preparation for work, we provide the nursing students with a current study program, highly experienced staff with many scientific achievements, modern workshops to develop nursing skills in simulated conditions, access to the best healthcare facilities (mainly at the University Hospital) where practical classes take place. We also prepare them to work in public and non-public healthcare facilities, provide self-employment in medical and nursing services, guide prevention and medical education, and provide services in a patient's house. The nursing field of study leads in rankings prepared by the Education Foundation "Perspektywy".

The Institute of Nursing and Midwifery of the Faculty of Health Sciences conducts the POWER Rozwijaj się i pracUJ project, which aims at the improvement of quality of higher education in nursing and midwifery and the development of professional competencies and qualifications of medical staff, to meet the epidemiological-demographics needs of the country. Information regarding Faculty

The Faculty of Health Sciences is one of the best units in the country, educating professional staff in health protection. It is part of the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University – a unit of the Jagiellonian University consisting of medical faculties, the oldest and one of the largest units of this type in Poland. The high level of education at the faculty has been confirmed by awarding the scientific category A in the classification of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, by obtaining the title of the best university in the group of health care fields of study in the “Perspektywy” University Ranking in 2014-2018 and by distinguishing marks from the Polish Accreditation Committee.

The Faculty offers physiotherapy, nursing, obstetrics, public health, emergency medical services, electrobiology, and healthcare management. The department focuses on studying the human body and applying the acquired knowledge to protect the health, improve it and save lives. The faculty runs, among others, research in the field of preventive cardiology and creates programs aimed at changing eating habits. Students benefit from a modern educational base, and over 50% of classes are held in small groups in renowned clinical units. They are surrounded by professional career counseling, have the opportunity to conduct their diploma theses in consultation with potential and future employers, and co-create and implement innovative projects.

Curriculum overview

Programme curriculum consists of information regarding classes in which you will take part while studying at this field of study. The programme provides data on classes in particular semesters, which of them are compulsory or optional, which of them end with an exam, and which do not. Each class has its own syllabus – a description of contents of the class.

Student’s life

Time spent at the university is not all about education and class participation; it is also an excellent opportunity to develop hobbies and interests. Many research societies and student organizations work at the Jagiellonian University, including faculty- and university-wide ones. These societies allow students to spend their free time actively, gain knowledge, develop their talents, participate in engaging, unconventional projects, go on research and team-building trips, participate in conferences and meet fellow students outside the lecture halls.

Students interested in the international dimension of studying can participate in a wide variety of exchange programmes such as Erasmus+, Utrecht Network, exchange programmes within Bilateral Agreements or European university Una Europa, or participate in a domestic mobility programme called MOSTUM.

Transfer from other university or study programme

Transfer from other university or other study programme is possible, with the consent of the dean: after finishing a first year of studies and fulfilling additional conditions described by the Faculty Council. In case of questions regarding a transfer, contact the unit in charge of study programme directly.

Graduates

Nursing graduates receive the right to exercise their profession from the professional association based on the diploma obtained at the university with the accreditation of the National Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (KRASzPiP). May work in public and non-public healthcare facilities or individual nursing practice. After graduation from second-cycle studies, which constitute a supplement and improvement of knowledge and skills gained at the first-cycle studies, graduates are prepared to provide care for patients after endoscopic procedures with chronic disease, including education, referring for diagnostic tests, prescribing medicines, and issuing orders for medical devices. Additionally, graduates may work at public authorities, professional associations, research and didactic teams, universities (teaching and conducting research), vocational development centres, and business activities.

Offer for school

The following events are conducted in Polish – to find out about the offer for English-speaking audience, please get in touch with the organizer directly. Additionally, due to the current pandemic, some faculty and university events may be canceled or conducted in a form other than that described below.

We invite all schools to a series of meetings, "University Closer to you – trips to the Jagiellonian University." The purpose of the sessions as part of the tours is to familiarize students with our university's history through a broad educational offer (lectures, workshops, laboratory classes, etc.). The current program of the event is available on the organizer's website - Centre for Communications and Marketing.

The Jagiellonian Library allows you to visit the old and new parts of the building. The tour program includes presentations of information about the history of the Library and the building itself and a tour of the Warehouse Department. The offer of Collegium Maius consists of the "Traces of science" and "Traces of history and art" lessons as well as interactive online classes. We also invite you to familiarize yourself with the educational offer of: the Botanic Garden, the Nature Education Center, the Confucius Institute, and the Museum of the Department of Anatomy UJ CM.
